Novel Study

Hi Bloggers! I'm back with another post. For the past 6 weeks and a half, Rimu Class have been working  on their Novel Studies. For my Novel I chose the book the twits. Prototec Graph

From the start of week 1, term 4, Rimu class started doing prototec almost every day. Prototec is a website where you do Basic facts tests. I liked doing prototec because it tells you where you went wrong and what you can improve. I really think that it helps a lot so here is a link so you can try for yourself prototec.

I know that I have improved because we made a graph and graphed our scores every week. So here is my graph.

Lisa Carrington

In week 4 YMS got a special visit from Lisa Carrington. We were all so excited about her visit. I was so jumpy and giggly before she came. When I went up to ask her a question, that's when it actually hit me Lisa Carrington is less than 2 metres away from me. I couldn't believe it! So here is a video and a piccollage.

Digi Award

Digi Awards

From the start of term three YMS School have been making our DIGI AWARDS!  I really enjoyed making the digi award because you got to hang out with your friends and do work at the same time.

I found that finding the right website to make our website was actually quite hard, so we did it on a blog instead.

But in the end my friend Bella and I used blogger and we found that it worked really well for us.

Speech on Womans Rights in Saudi Arabia

In week 5 YMS started writing speeches. This type of writing is called persuasive writing, which means we have to try and convince our audience to come round to our way of thinking. Everyone got to choose what their topic was for their speech. I chose ‘Women's Rights in Saudi Arabia’, because I think it is a really interesting topic. I really enjoyed learning a lot of new facts about my topic. Firstly we looked at a few inspiring speeches. Then we went on bitesize for tips, next we looked at the rubric that we had to mark ourselves against. Then I started writing and here is the final product! Enjoy!

Cycle Safety

Cycle Safety

For the past three days the Year 6's have been doing Cycle Safety. I enjoyed learning how to do right hand signals because before I did Cycle Safety I didn't know how to make right hand turns. I found turning around on the bike while it was still moving quite hard because it was hard to keep the bike straight while you were looking back.

My timetable for term three

This is my term 3 timetable! As you can see my goals are at the top of my spreadsheet. I am looking foward to the Digi awards and the Amazing race. so far in the amazing race I am still at the starting line but I am confident that I will start soon. So here is my timetable for term 3.

Cancer Bracelets

               Me and my friend Hannah are making bracelets for cancer we wanted to raise awareness how may people get cancer so spread the word.

Wigram Airforce Museum

Wigram airforce museum 

In week 7 Rimu class went to the Wigram Airforce Museum

to learn a bit more about Gallipoli. 

When we got back we made airforce museum responses. So Hannah wanted to write a song and Laura and I were thinking about making an imovie so we put our ideas together and made a music video. So I hope you enjoy.

water bottle fowers

last week on thursday the year six's made water bottle flowers I think they are so cool the were so fun to make and all you need is scissors, primer, colourful paints and of course plastic bottle.

Kapahaka

On Wednesdays Yaldhurst Model School have a kapahaka session. 

We have the kapahaka session for 40 minutes so until 9:40 then the juniors come in and the seniors go out. the juniors go to kapahaka from 9:40 to 10:00.

The first ride

Last week Kakapo reading group read a short page story called The First Ride. It was about a girl called Monica who has always wanted to go horse riding but now that she is really at the ranch the horse that she is about to ride doesn´t even like her. In the end they become friends so that is the quick version of the story. So take a look of my slide so far.

The Amazing Race

Rimu are doing the amazing race the amazing race is where you read one book and then you move country to country then you have to write a fact about that country. Right now I am at the starting line because I am half way through harry potter.(PLEASE DO NOT EDIT MY PADLET)

this weeks hundred word challenge

as I jumped into bed I lit a candle so I could read. I read a my book for about ten minutes. I blew on my candle as the flame flickered and then went out. Mum came in to check on me she opened my door and said good night sweetie pie and then closed the door then I heard another knock I said WHAT MUM! she didn’t answer. So I went to go and get the door I opened it and said WHAT! and there was a clown he said howdey patner and I screamed and slammed the door shut.

ANZAC reading activities

For the past two weeks Rimu class had a reading timetable. We got to choose three things from that time table. I am in kakapo reading group. they each had 9 choices to choose from. So here is my anzac slide.

100 word challenge

Last week Rimu class did the hundred word challenge on night zookeeper. The topic was stairway to the sky that means that the story had to revele around stairway to the sky

There I was standing at the bottom of the stairs 3,967 steps to be at the top. On the way up you face three challenges. The first challenge is chickens. The second one gingerbread men and the third and the scariest talking icecreams. 

So lets go ahhhhh chickens bam! I made it past the chickens. 

lets try make it past the gingerbread men poof I made it past them. 

Now it's the talking icecream dun dun dun! ahhhhhh as I was falling off the stairs I could hear the icecream bye bye sucker bam!

My Timetable For Term Two

This term our school value we are focusing on enthusiastic learners . This means in term, two we are focusing on stick  to our own timetables. This means we are becoming good at self managing our own work and learning goals. Here is my timetable for this week.

True or False

This week Rimu had to write a story about our holidays The story had to be true or false So to find out read ahead!

During the holidays Bella N and I had sleepover. First we drove to Timezone.

After that we went to SOYO. Then we drove to Bella's house and then Bella. when we got back to Bella's house we walked down to the park that is just down the road.

At the park I fell off the slide after that we went back to Bella's house and we were playing a game of tag with here two brothers Xavier and Ezeikiel while Max was sleeping.

After that we watched some movies and did some fun things. When we were watching Back to the Future Max woke up and started crying so we had to shut the door.

Then when we started to watch G-force Bella's nose started bleeding so I had to go to my Nana’s which is just around the corner because Bella had to go to the doctors. So we had to reschedule for another day.

Collaborative painting Starry Night

Over the past 6 weeks the Year Sixes did a collaborative painting, ‘A starry night’ By Vincent van Gogh. I twirled the brush on the paper to make a cool swirling effect that looks like a star. I chose a medium size brush and yellow and red paint to make the size and color to create the stars in the night sky. We used SOLO to describe our learning and my thinking is Multistructural because I can describe several things about van Gogh’s painting skills. My next step is Relational so I can describe several things about van Gogh paintings and explain why I used this skill in this way. It was so fun and I really enjoyed it!

  

hanmer camp

hanmer camp

at camp there was year 4 to 6 hannah violet and i were loading our stuff into the trailer then we put our day pack in the back of mr m’s car on the way to hanmer we saw some beautiful sights and rivers but I think that mr m got a bit annoyed from us three girls talking so much about stuff that he didn't even understand



the first activity that my group the terror of the Allan’s did was the waterfall hike it was a bit boring and the water full wasn't that cool and I don’t think it was worth it but it was cool going on a walk and talking with my friends and encouraging my friends to keep going because i’ve done it before so it wasn't that hard for me.



the next day we did tree climbing I got really high up the tree I got hire than I thought I would get on the big tree I didn't get that high on the little tree I guess I just had a bit more faith in myself on the bigger tree because on the small tree I didn't have much faith in myself because I was worried about falling but when I moved to the bigger tree I realised I wasn't going to fall





on the last day of camp I was sad but I was also excited to see my family and a comfy bed and not just a mattress.




On the way back we all got icecreams violet let us have a lick of hers and It was the best!!! Ice Cream ever!!! It was flavoured pink lemonade and I got hot fudge ice cream and so did hannah and they were two scoop and very big!!!

In the first two weeks of school Rimu have been making our visual mihimihi. Our mihi had to involve:

1) Self portrait or photo.

2) Places of significance.

3) Images or drawings to do with your culture.

The most challenging part was decorating the poster because you had to find all the symbols.
